Functional Working Groups

on

Dear Supporter,

The work to be done to nourish life is quite diverse. Just like the diversity in the interaction of different species in different layers that make up a forest, with the soil and with each other. The Functional Forests team also solves the needs they observe in the application areas by forming subject-oriented working groups. These groups are self-structuring in line with conditions and needs.

This week, we visited our practice fields with the science working group, one of the working groups created by our members who are interested in different fields. All the activities we carry out, such as composting, mulching, pruning, frequent and varied planting, nourish and transform the soil. In this way, we observe that local new species find their place in our lands spontaneously. It is the job of our science working group to make an inventory of these wild species and other species introduced by us into the system, to identify them, and to observe how wildlife is affected. Making use of the scientific field in the determination of flora and fauna is as important to us as evaluating ancient knowledge.

In addition, our technical working group is at work. We apply many restorative agriculture techniques such as agro-forestry, permaculture, biointensive agriculture, taking into account factors such as geographical conditions, climate and soil characteristics. In such applications, we also need unique solutions. This is where the technical working group comes into play when it comes to these needs, and starts to work to develop the tools, machines and systems required for the application areas by using its functional design and production capabilities. Designing and supplying the equipment we need for harvesting and maintenance was on our agenda this week. We aim to increase the workforce of our team when our new equipments land on the field.

Hoping to meet you at delicious tables...
